Cristiano Ronaldo is not done with Portugal yet.
At 41 years old, the Al-Nassr forward is preparing for a shock return to the Portuguese national team in November 2026, despite his recent fallout with new manager Jorge Jesus.
Ronaldo walked out of Portugal's camp in September during the Nations League clash against Denmark. The incident led the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) to open a disciplinary case against their captain.
But now, the story has changed.
FPF President Pedro Proença has publicly begged for his return.
According to Proença, "The Federation, the coach, all the players want Cristiano back. We expect him back in November."
Head coach Jorge Jesus also confirmed that Ronaldo will be eligible for selection if he is fit and scoring for Al-Nassr.
Why is Ronaldo desperate to return? The answer is simple: 1000 career goals.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner currently has 980 official goals after netting against Diriyah. He is just 20 goals away from becoming the first footballer in history to hit 1000 goals.
Reports claim Ronaldo wants to score his historic 1000th goal in the red and green of Portugal at the Estadio da Luz, not in Saudi Arabia.
More than goals, Ronaldo said his new role is to guide the next generation.
If all goes as planned, Ronaldo will serve a one-month ban and return on November 14 against Denmark and November 17 against Wales.
Will he get his 1000th goal for Portugal? Only time will tell, but the legend's final chapter is still being written.
