Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Making Money Online in Nigeria
Making money online sounds easy until you actually try it.
You see people saying, “I made ₦50,000 from my phone,” and you naturally wonder, “Can I do it too?”
I started exploring online income opportunities with one simple goal: find something legitimate that doesn't require me to invest money first.
Here are a few things I've learned.
1. Not every opportunity is genuine.
Don't trust every app or website just because someone posted a payment screenshot. Research how it works, how you get paid, and whether Nigerians can actually withdraw.
2. Your time is valuable too.
A platform may be free to join but still not be worth your time if you spend hours earning almost nothing.
3. Don't believe every income claim.
Someone making ₦100,000 online doesn't mean you will make the same amount immediately. They may have an audience, skills, experience, or months of work behind them.
4. Don't pay to make money without doing your research.
Be careful with anyone who promises guaranteed income if you send them money first.
5. Your skills can be more valuable than an earning app.
Writing, designing, coding, editing, teaching and other skills can become income sources. Sometimes the question isn't “Which app will pay me?” but “What can I create or offer that people need?”
I'm still learning and testing different opportunities myself. Some have worked, some haven't.
But one thing I've learned is this:
Protect your money, protect your time, do your research, and start small.
You don't need to make thousands of naira on your first attempt.
Even your first ₦1 can be proof that you're on the right path. ❤️
