Liverpool Fight Back To Beat Brentford 2-1: Alexander Isak Scores Winner Despite Double Injury Blow For Reds

Liverpool came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium today in dramatic Premier League clash that had red cards, injuries and comeback.

Brentford shocked Liverpool when Keane Lewis-Potter headed home from Igor Thiago cross in 44th minute to make it 1-0 against run of play. Alisson Becker had no chance as header looped over him.

But game changed completely in first half stoppage time when Brentford midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk was sent off for violent conduct after his head made contact with Jeremy Jacquet face while waiting for corner kick. VAR checked and referee gave straight red card.

Liverpool started second half with serious injury problems. Dominik Szoboszlai went off in 32nd minute with hamstring problem - same injury that made him miss Manchester City defeat last week where Liverpool lost 0-3. He tried to continue but fell off the ball and was replaced by young Trey Nyoni. Manager Andoni Iraola said after game "He has tried, he has trained last days, but we didn't know the minutes he'd have. It's not another injury, he's still not healed."

Jeremie Frimpong who came on at half time lasted only 8 minutes before muscle injury forced him off in 53rd minute. He limped off slowly and Rio Ngumoha took his place. Iraola said Frimpong had suffered cramps in Champions League 6-3 win over LASK on Wednesday and was not supposed to start.

Despite setbacks, Liverpool equalized in 62nd minute through Victor Munoz who cut inside from left wing and slotted composed finish past former Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher who joined Brentford this summer.

Alexander Isak then scored winner in 70th minute after brilliant assist from Bradley Barcola who joined from PSG. Isak blasted powerful shot into roof of net for his fifth goal this term in Premier League. He now has 5 goals in 6 games - best form of his Liverpool career.

Florian Wirtz created 9 chances today, equaling Sadio Mane Liverpool record from 2021. He was man of the match with 8.8 rating from WhoScored.

Brentford finished with 9 men after Vitaly Janelt got second yellow card in stoppage time for fouling Rio Ngumoha.

Liverpool now climb to 5th position on Premier League table with 11 points. I am a football lover from Aba and I believe Liverpool can still challenge for title despite injuries.
