The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has shifted full CBT implementation to 2027.
Originally, the Federal Government directed that all SSCE should be CBT by 2026. But WAEC said 2026 will only be a pilot test. Students in 2026 can choose between CBT or paper.
But in 2027, there is no option. All candidates writing May/June WASSCE 2027 will write on computer in approved CBT centres. This was confirmed by the top Chairman of Nigeria National Committee of WAEC, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, at the 63rd Annual Meeting in Umuahia.
What this means for you: You will go to a computer centre, sit before a computer or tablet, and answer your questions. For essay subjects like English and Mathematics, you will type using a keyboard and a digital pen on tablet.
WAEC is already training students on how to answer essay questions on a computer. So start practicing typing now.
