In Islamic tradition, the Green Dome in Medina, Saudi Arabia, houses the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad and the early Rashidun Caliphs Abu Bakr and Umar . However, there have been a number of attempts to steal the body of the Prophet Muhammad from the Green Dome over the centuries. One of the most famous attempts was made in the year 557H (1164CE) by two Christian men who disguised themselves as Moroccans claiming to be descendants of the Prophet Muhammad's daughter, Fatima. Another attempt was made during the rule of Nur ad-Din Zangi, a well-known Muslim leader in the 12th century. According to legend, Zangi dreamt of the Prophet Muhammad's body being taken away and decided to strengthen the security around the tomb in order to prevent it from being stolen. However, there is little information available on this particular attempt. In his book "History of Baghdad", Ibn Najjar writes about a plot that was hatched by a man named Ba Amrullah to steal the body of the Prophet Muhammad. Ba Amrullah hoped to draw attention to Egypt by taking the body and burying it there. However, the plot was foiled before it could be carried out. Despite numerous attempts to steal the body, the Green Dome has remained a revered site for Muslims around the world. The tomb of the Prophet Muhammad and the early caliphs continues to draw millions of visitors each year and serves as a place of pilgrimage and prayer for Muslims everywhere.
