Why I Think Cristiano Ronaldo Is Still Better Than Lamine Yamal — The Complete Gist

Let’s talk true entertainment gist — Lamine Yamal vs Cristiano Ronaldo. Yamal is talented no doubt, but if we compare properly, Ronaldo clears.

1. BACKGROUND & FROM A POOR HOME:

Both came from struggle, but Ronaldo’s story hits harder. Born Feb 5, 1985 in Madeira, Portugal, he grew up in a poor family — father was a gardener, mother a cook, they shared one room with his siblings. He was even told he had a heart problem at 15. Yamal was born July 13, 2007 in Spain to a Moroccan father and Equatorial Guinean mother, grew up in a modest area too, but Ronaldo’s rise from absolute poverty to the top of the world is the blueprint.

2. GOALS:

This one is not even close. As of October 2026, Ronaldo has 982 official career goals — 450 for Real Madrid, 145 for Man United, 101 for Juventus, 135 for Al Nassr, 5 for Sporting, and 146 for Portugal. He needs just 18 more to reach 1000. Yamal? He has about 54 goals for Barcelona first team and 11 goals for Spain at 19. Great for his age, but Ronaldo has been scoring for 24 years straight.

3. SHOT:

Ronaldo’s shot is legendary — knuckleball free-kicks, 130km/h rockets, headers from nowhere. He has scored with both feet, head, volleys, bicycle kicks. Yamal has a beautiful left foot and curls, but his shot power and variety is still developing. Ronaldo’s shot is a weapon, Yamal’s is still a skill.

4. HEIGHT:

Ronaldo is 1.87m (6ft 2in) — perfect striker height for headers. He has over 150 headed goals in his career, highest jump 2.93m. Yamal is 1.80m (5ft 10in) — good for a winger but he can’t dominate in the air like CR7.

5. FANS:

Ronaldo is the most followed human on earth — over 630 million followers on Instagram alone, biggest fanbase in football. Every stadium he enters chants “Siuuu”. Yamal has huge hype and is loved in Barcelona, but his fanbase is still growing. Ronaldo has fans from 2003 till now — three generations.

6. CHARISMA:

This is where Ronaldo wins hands down. The Siuuu celebration, the confidence, the suits, the walk, the “I am the best” mentality. He turned football into entertainment. Yamal is shy, calm, still a boy. Charisma is not taught — Ronaldo was born with it.

CONCLUSION: Yamal is the future, maybe he will be Ballon d’Or winner soon — he already won 3 Kopa Trophies and helped Spain win World Cup 2026 — but Ronaldo is the past, present and standard. From poor home to 982 goals, from Madeira to global icon, CR7 is still better for me.

What do you think? Future or GOAT?
