Hello, and welcome to my review.
There is this text message that has been going round since 2025 purportedly asking people to click on a link to enable them claim a N750,000 from the government under the NCTO TCF (National Cash Transfer Office). The message claimed that the N750,000 was an interest free loan to help vulnerable household cope with the biting economic situation in the country.

Upon clicking the link, you will be asked to verify your phone number after which a page will be opened, showing your personal details involving your full name, phone number, date of birth and your council ward. You will then be asked to fill in your bank details and your BVN/NIN. Once you enter those details, they will tell you to pay the sum of N3,500 for account opening and documentation before disbursement.

Now the funny thing about this scam is the fact that they are able to get hold of your personal details just so that their targets will believe without doubt that they are indeed real and not fake.
I got the text message, so I decided to check it out but the red flag for me was where they asked for payment. I immediately stopped providing any further information and decided to make my research about them and this is what I found out.

So people need to be very careful out there, and watch out for a scam such as this.
It is true that the government has their official website where they assist vulnerable households through grants, loans and other kinds of empowerment programmes but they will not ask for any payment whatsoever to access those grants. Also, they identify the beneficiaries through data-driven, community-based targeting.
One of such initiatives is GEEP (Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program) through the National Social Investment Program Agency designed to support micro and small scale entrepreneurs across Nigeria. The program provides zero interest, collateral free loans to help economically active Nigerians expand their businesses, improve productivity and build sustainable livelihoods.
Final conclusion
Always verify information about government grants through official, trusted channels, specifically the official websites containing gov. or ng.
