The Housewife Who Cooked Stones To Make Her Children Sleep

There was a poor widow named Aisha living in Kano with her 3 children.

Her husband died 6 months ago and she had no food left in the house. Her children were crying of hunger.

Aisha had no money, no rice, no garri. So she put water in a pot, put stones inside, and put it on fire. She was stirring the stones as if she was cooking.

Her children thought food was cooking and they fell asleep waiting.

A neighbor named Mama Nafisa heard the children crying every day. One day she decided to check what was happening. She entered Aisha's house and saw the pot of stones on fire.

Mama Nafisa burst into tears. She asked, "Aisha, why are you cooking stones?"

Aisha said, "I have nothing to give my children, so I deceive them with stones so they can sleep."

Mama Nafisa quickly went home and brought rice, oil and meat. She cooked real food for the children that day.

From that day, Mama Nafisa helped Aisha to start a small business selling kosai. Today Aisha can feed her children.
