Verification badges had always been a thing of pride on every social media platform. Only people who have met the criteria can apply for verification badges.
Recently, Elon Musk, the founder of Space X and Tesla, had just bought Twitter. He made a tweet saying all verified users would have to pay $8 monthly. This had caused a stir on Twitter, as it doesn't sits well with the lot who are verified.
I love that Elon Musk is trying to balance the high class and low class. Some of those who are verified on social media platforms assume some air, that irks me.
I think it was pretty smart for him to capitalize on that, because a lot would not want to lose their badges so they'll definitely have to pay. Although it caused a stir online, Elon isn't even bothered, he just wants to make his money.
It's ridiculous, but the things people do for fame and power is really shocking. Paying for a badge wouldn't be a bad thing, if you want to self gratification, power and fame it shouldn't be a problem for you.
Congratulations to verified X(Twitter) users though as they are now being paid.
