The ocean contains a plethora of living organisms, from micro organisms, bacteria, viruses and even fishes and plant life. However, an ocean water than seems clear and harmless isn't really like that.
When fishes defecate, the faeces are actually broken down by microorganisms and bacteria. However the viruses in the ocean only feed on such microorganisms and bacteria reducing their volume and presence in the ocean water.
It is reported that about 20% of microorganisms and bacteria in the sea water are consumed by the viruses present in the ocean every day. This is such an amazing and alarming rate, showing how viruses are populating ocean water.
Hence, seawater that seems pretty safe for swimming might not be as it seems.
